IVY Club to Host Cocktails for a Cause to Benefit Sun Foundation
Supporting Local Non-Profits Through Cocktails, Live Music and a Good Time
Due to flood threats, the IVY Club is closed until further notice and this event has been postponed until Saturday, June 8.
PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – April 29, 2019 – The Illinois Valley Yacht and Canoe (IVY) Club will host “Cocktails for a Cause” on June 8 from 4:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. with Sun Foundation as the beneficiary.
For each drink purchased (beer, wine, mixed drink or non-alcoholic beverage), guests receive one vote that they may cast that night for their local non-profit of choice. The local non-profit with the most votes at the end of the night will be invited to the IVY Club to be the beneficiary of Cocktails for a Cause and will receive a portion of the following month's proceeds.
“The mission of the Sun Foundation is to strengthen and advance the arts and environmental sciences in our community by providing innovative, high-quality programs, services, publications, research, regranting financial support, and cooperative efforts for the general public, underserved groups, schools, artists, and arts organizations,” said Bob Ericksen the Founder of Sun Foundation. “Financial contributions provided through Cocktails for a Cause allows the Sun Foundation to educate and inspire youth in our communities in the arts and environmental sciences at low or no cost to the students.”
Cocktails for a Cause is sure to be fun time. On Saturday, the event will take place inside with the Kentucky Derby on the televisions and Black Velvet providing acoustic music after the races are complete. When the summer comes, the event will move outside for supporters to enjoy live music and dancing from the patio overlooking the Illinois River.
“Once a month, the IVY Club is opening the doors to non-members who want to support their favorite local non-profits,” said Nicole Roberts, Coordinator of Cocktails for a Cause. “As the event continues to grow, we are grateful for the opportunity to help raise awareness of local non-profits that are doing great work within our community and beyond.”
“The IVY Club is a boating and social club that has a long-standing history of supporting local non-profits. Twenty-four local non-profits were voted on in April and we look forward to supporting a different non-profit each month,” said Mike Ford, IVY Club Commodore. “We are excited to host Cocktails for a Cause to further our member’s support of the local non-profits that matter to them and to introduce more people to the fun we have at the IVY Club.”
