30th Sun Foundation Clean Water Celebration selected as an American Water Charitable Foundation STEM grantee!

Exciting News!

Sun Foundation has been selected as an American Water Charitable Foundation STEM Education grantee, focusing on 30th Clean Water Celebration and the program’s return to an in-person student conference on April 24, 2023 at the Peoria Civic Center.

Since 1994 Sun Foundation in partnership with Illinois American Water has provided participants of the Clean Water Celebration a look at water from many perspectives. Attendees interact with scientists, artists, community college and college instructors, government agencies, conservation groups, youth activists and come away with not only how important water is as a resource and actions that they can take to care for it, but the many career paths it supports and why science, technology, engineering, art and math are among the skills needed in these fields.

As we return to an in-person event in 2023, the $15,000 awarded will increase STEM offerings, support supplies for STEM activities and teacher resources as well as increase the number of rural and urban schools attending by increasing funds for transportation.

In 2020, 2021 and 2022 Clean Water Celebration virtual programming supported teachers in at home online settings and in their classrooms.  The Virtual Classroom and the Clean Water Champion video series remain available and will continue to be supported.
