Remembering Bob Ericksen

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Sun Foundation Executive Director, Robert C. Ericksen, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. 

Bob was the founding Executive Director of the Sun Foundation, serving in that role until he passed—a total of 52 years. Bob was truly a treasured member of the local community. Further, he was a kind, compassionate, and generous leader within a broader community of millions of people around the world who have a better appreciation for art, science, and culture having participated in activities sponsored by the Sun Foundation. It is impossible to replace someone who has dedicated the majority of his life to this organization, but we will do everything we can to honor him and to carry out his vision for the Sun Foundation. Our thoughts and love go out to his wife, Joan Root Ericksen, and his son, Brett Root Ericksen, during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Feb. 2, from 1:00–4:00 pm at Wildlife Prairie Park in the Hespell Deck area. Guests may check in at the ticket gate and let them know you are there for Bob's Celebration.
