Please Support the 2020 Program Recovery Fund
We need your help! At this moment, our future relies directly on our kind and generous donors.
Update: As of June, we’ve raised $17,000 of the $45,000 needed, help us reach our goal!
Dear Friends of the Sun Foundation,
As we isolate and socially distance ourselves, spring has sprung and the sun is shining on the Sun Valley. Swans are flying up Crow Creek Marsh, sandhill cranes have reappeared in the wetland fields, eagles are nesting, bloodroot is blooming, and life goes on… almost on schedule.
A ride or walk through nature can reassure us that things will be okay and our lives will resume. We hope you are riding this wave of uncertainty with relative ease. We want you to know we are thinking of you and sending Sun energy to brighten your experience until we can move forward with our children's programs—the activities and events which bring us together. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to facilitate this experience.
We have rescheduled our Clean Water Celebration to April 26-27, 2021, and postponed Art and Science in the Woods to June 2021. We are grateful for your flexibility, and we look forward to seeing you then. We are so thankful for our sponsors, vendors and other friends for making these chaotic times less stressful by accommodating our many requests.
But one piece of this moving puzzle we cannot pause is our operational expenses. Despite running on a bare minimum staff, the monthly bills for electricity, gas, insurance, liability, maintenance, mowing, accounting, etc. are still coming due. At the same time, we have already paid out nearly $45,000 in non-refundable expenses for our cancelled and postponed programs. We rely on our program fees to keep us afloat, so this has greatly impacted our ability to operate.
At this moment, our future relies directly on our kind and generous donors. In this world that needs our attention so desperately, we hope you will find it in your heart to keep us in your giving circle.
We know these are difficult times. But if you are able, please consider donating to the Sun Foundation 2020 Program Recovery Fund so we can continue to provide art and environmental science programing to the community in the years to come—any assistance is greatly appreciated.
May you have good health and strength, and may nature give you peace!
